Last month, Garner opened up about their ongoing divorce in a bombshell interview with Vanity Fair. While the Miracles from Heaven actress called Affleck "the love of my life," she also opened up about their marital struggles, telling the glossy: "I always says, 'When his sun shines on you, you feel it.' But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it's cold. He can cast quite a shadow."

During Ben's appearance, the daytime talk show host mentioned her guest's "challenging year" and complimented his and Jen's ability to put their three children, Violet, Seraphina, and Sam, first. And we've got to agree! Seeing Ben and Jen spend time with their kids post-separation is also something that we really admire, and it's clearly important to the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star as well.
"We're good friends, and we're doing our best," Ben said. "And, our kids are fabulous. And, we're working our best for them."
And though Ben mentioned that his kids are doing well, he did joke that his son might need therapy one day. Apparently, four-year-old Sam actually believes that his dad is the Caped Crusader. “The main thing is these kids – and we’re completely in line with what we hope for them,” Garner said of their children to Vanity Fair in a widely circulated interview. “Sure, I lost the dream of dancing with my husband at my daughter’s wedding. But you should see their faces when he walks through the door. And if you see your kids love someone so purely and wholly, then you’re going to be friends with that person.”
Affleck is promoting Batman v Superman, and he told DeGeneres one of his kids, 4-year-old Samuel, has really taken the role to heart. He thinks his dad might actually be a superhero.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor was commended for the approach during his appearance on Ellen Wednesday, with DeGeneres saying, "What I love and I think what everybody loves is that you and Jen are putting the kids first, and we see you with the kids all the time and I think that's the most important thing and the most important message to send everybody."
Part of keeping up that sense of normalcy has been traveling between both stars' film sets, including Affleck's for Batman v Superman, which Samuel was particularly fond of.
